What a blessing to read a book that encourages a life pure in thought, word and deed. This book is deserving of a 5 Star rating because it is more than a Christian romance. People were created with a purpose - fellowship with a Creator. The young people were faced with promising lives, encountered challenges, and had to set lifestyle priorities in this story. They had to determine whether or not to change their allegiance to self-gratification. Self-gratification does not always lend itself to long-term happiness. This book places a bright spotlight on the consequences of choices.I have been reading Grace Livingston Hill books for over 50 years and I have never found one that did not inspire me.

We never really know just what God has in mind for us when we choose to follow Him, and take on the challenge to pursue His will for our lives. Just as Sherrill and Alan discovered, we too can discover that every day is a "chance of a lifetime."
What we think is a "chance of a lifetime" often turns out differently. As the characters in this book discovered, waiting on God's direction for our lives is ALWAYS the best way and leads the real prize. As in all of Mrs. Hill's books, in this book God is given first place in the plot and His plans work out best for the characters as they learn to trust His leading.
I always learn valuable lessons when I read Grace Livingston Hill's books. I enjoy her stories, but I am also challenged in my spiritual life & walk with the Lord. I know the author has gone on to her eternal reward, but her heart for our Savior lives on in her books.
Her books are timeless even though they were written long ago. I love the old romance and love expressed toward the Savior and salvation. I am a senior citizen and I love the clean and innocent scenes throughout the stories.
Great theme for this book. Our idea of a chance of a lifetime may not ever be as great as God's idea of a chance of a lifetime if we look to Him for guidance. As always, I love Grace Livingston Hill's books. They are full of encouragement to live a godly life and not get caught up with the trends of the times, then or now.
Lite and quick on the love story and heavy on the missionary aspect. It has a beautiful Thanksgiving scene set in a barn - complete with pumpkin lanterns. I wonderful story about trusting God to lead you and that He has the best plans for our lives - even when they are contrary to ours.
The story is told of a young Christian woman who leads others to Christ through the way she lives. She leads young people in her home town to a saving belief in Christ and turns is invited to relatives in New York . She finds them completely incompatible except for the uncle.He comes home after coming down with Smallpox to find she is the only one in the house. She stays to take care of him during his time of contagion and through the closeness of her reading to him,she leads him to Christ.
