I received an ARC for an honest review......Bewitching Hour begins a new PNR series. I've read other novels by this author but this is on a whole different plane! I loved this book, and while it does end on a cliff hanger the series should be releasing all together. So no long wait to endure till the next one releases.
This story was very well written with plenty of action and a smokin' hot sex scene! Samantha is a strong character who wants to deny not only her family but her magic heritage as well. The hero Derek is a straight arrow NYPD homicide detective. As neighbors in the same building they don't have much contact but when a series of murders has Samantha outing a couple of charlatan 'psychics' to the hot detective things heat up very quickly! This is a fast paced page turner with lots of interesting characters and a plot line that will carry you through the series.

First, let me say that this is not a stand alone book, but it made sense to break it up because there was so much going on. Mallory has a talent of making her heroines look and seem weak, but turns out to be the strongest of the bunch. Sam and Derek don't seem like the ideal couple but that's the beauty of this story. No one is who you think they are, which is why kept me reading. I can honestly say that I read all 5 books in 2 days. I was that hooked!
WOW! I was reading thinking ok this is not this authors norm with sexy hot brain melting sex..the two main characters Sam and Derek with Sam being a witch in hiding and Derek being a cop and hating that she uses medical marajauna I never thought it would end with them going to a witches solstice party and wam bam thank you mam sex!! In the end I thought he was being. A total behind about things and that they were done because he told her they couldn't be together and I figured that's where it ended again boy was I wrong now reading the second book!! Loved this book but was starting be very sad thinking it was done and over..
Sam has left her "witch's nature" behind her...or attempted to...at a cost to her physical health. Her family is not thrilled with the fact, but they still love her and try to protect her.
Derrick Pierce is a police Detective trying to solve some grisly murders with the aide of two brothers claiming to be psychics.
Enter the witch...
Great set up for the series. These books will not be standalone stories and there endings will leave you wanting more...which you WILL receive...in the next book!

this was a 4.5 star for me,
Sam, and Derrick were so good together. Sam is a witch who decided not to use her powers. She belongs to a family not a coven, and they are kind of like the mob. Someone has been killing women and the Captain of the force all but forced Same to help.
Derrick is a good cop, all things right and justice in the world. He met Sam on the outside of their building when she let him know the two 'psychics' working for him are frauds. This is where their story began.
Now there isn't much that I didn't like in this book. It had the makings of a great novel. It really wasn't a UF if anything I would say it was a PNR. You pretty much didn't have to solve much it gave everything on a silver platter. I pretty much called the ending.

That was the only thing that got me upset with this novel and why it was a half star away from five. But I will be buying the second one.
It all begins here Sam and Derek's adventures or should I say magical nightmare, why do I say that? For Sam, a witch who never knew how to control her powers and has sworn to leave that world behind her doesn't quite work out that way for her. She gets all tangled up with Derek a detective who is on the case of murdered young woman. So together both Sam and Derek have to solve a crime that has everything to do with the world of magic.
So get ready to be taken on this thriller of a ride, follow Mal into the world of her own Bewitched.
Don’t sleep on this one....
OK, Mallory has done it again! At first I didn’t think I would like a book about witches, especially a series but this book has changed my mind. I’m glad I gave it a chance because I fell in love with Derek and Sam. The characters are totally understandable, written very well with the story flowing and enough adventure and romance to keep the reader’s attention. I love her books and writing style and dare not miss one.
